celeste florals usability study

Project Overview:

Celeste Florals Mobile Sales App is a groundbreaking initiative in the world of online flower shopping. Conducting a competitive audit revealed a void in the market for a mobile app that enables customers to effortlessly purchase customized floral arrangements. As the Founder and Lead UX/UI Designer, my mission was to create an innovative platform where users can choose from a curated selection of pre-made bouquets or take the reins in designing their own personalized arrangements.

Key Features:

  1. Custom Floral Design Studio: Empowering users to express their creativity, the app features an intuitive design studio for crafting personalized bouquets with a wide array of floral options.

  2. Special Requests: Catering to unique preferences, customers can seamlessly place special requests for bespoke arrangements, ensuring a personalized touch to every order.

  3. Premade Arrangements: For those seeking curated options, the app showcases a collection of premade arrangements designed to suit various occasions, simplifying the ordering process for users looking for a quick selection.

Roles and Responsibilities:

In my multifaceted role as Founder, Lead UX Designer, and UI Designer, I spearheaded this project from inception to fruition. Key responsibilities included:

  • User Research: Understanding user preferences and pain points to inform the app's design and functionality.

  • Wireframing and Prototyping: Developing both paper and digital wireframes, progressing to low and high-fidelity prototypes for iterative testing and feedback.

  • Accessibility: Ensuring the app adheres to accessibility standards, fostering an inclusive user experience.

  • Usability Studies: Conducting rigorous usability studies to refine and enhance the app's interface based on user feedback.

Project Duration: 2023

This project spanned the year 2023, during which the Celeste Florals Mobile Sales App evolved from conceptualization to a fully functional and aesthetically pleasing platform. The culmination of meticulous design thinking and user-centric approaches positions Celeste Florals as a trailblazer in the digital floral marketplace, offering customers an unparalleled experience in selecting and customizing floral arrangements with ease and sophistication.

user research

In conducting user research for Celeste Florals, I engaged in in-depth interviews with individuals, creating empathy maps to better understand their experiences and pain points within the app. The primary focus of this research was on American adults responsible for event planning and corporate gifting.

The findings validated my initial hypotheses, highlighting the significant user preference for customization options when ordering bouquets. Through this research, our user base was effectively segmented into three distinct categories:

1) Those seeking specific custom bouquets

2) Users desiring custom bouquets with the assistance of a florist

3) Individuals interested in ready-made bouquet options. These insights have not only refined our understanding of user needs but also laid the foundation for targeted design improvements catering to the diverse preferences within our identified user segments.

pain points

01

Lack of Customization Options

Users are frustrated by the absence of an app that caters to their desire for personalized floral arrangements. The current market lacks a platform that allows them to customize bouquet orders according to their unique preferences, leading to a sense of limitation and unmet creative needs.

02

Lack of Professional Guidance

Some users, despite the desire to create custom bouquets, feel uncertain about their floral design skills. The absence of professional assistance within existing apps leaves them hesitant and anxious about the outcome, highlighting a pain point in the customization process.

03

Time Constraints and Limited Interest

A significant user segment faces challenges in finding the time or interest to engage in the intricate process of creating custom bouquets. The absence of a convenient solution for those seeking quick and easy options, such as premade arrangements, becomes a pain point for users with busy lifestyles or limited interest in the design process.

04

Complex and Non-Intuitive UI

Users express frustration with existing platforms that lack a clean and intuitive user interface. The current user experience fails to efficiently guide them through the customization and ordering process, resulting in a pain point where users feel overwhelmed or dissatisfied with the overall usability of floral arrangement apps.
